Toolkit to Measure The Added Value of Voluntary and Community Based Activity

January 7, 2009 | Community Evaluation Northern Ireland for Department for Social Development Northern Ireland

The toolkit is intended to enable both funders and the voluntary sector to demonstrate community benefit.  It identifies three dimensions of social capital, linking, bridging and bonding.  It introduces outcomes and indicators against which the level of each type of social capital can be measured.  Questions for community members relating to each type of social capital are also presented. Useful tables of Outcomes; Indicators and suggested evidence are included in Annex A.

The toolkit is written for a Northern Irish context, and the tables very much reflect this. However readers elsewhere may find the ideas and principles interesting.
